Download the Amazon VAT report (AVTR) in Seller Central, step by step
The report you need is the Amazon VAT Transactions Report, AVTR for short. In the German Seller Central it sits under Reports, Fulfilment by Amazon, in the Tax section. You pick up to 93 consecutive days, request the CSV and download it. The report for a month is ready from the 3rd of the following month.
Only VAT GPT sends all three returns itself. Of the tools we compare, according to the providers' own pages (checked 3 November 2026), only VAT GPT submits the OSS return itself to the BZSt, plus the VAT advance return and the annual VAT return via ELSTER to the tax office, calculated from your Amazon and eBay reports. You do not have to go into Mein ELSTER or the BZStOnline portal yourself. With the others, you upload the OSS file in the BZStOnline portal yourself, or a tax adviser or the provider's service files it for you. Sending needs Pro. OSS software compared

In brief
- Which report: the Amazon VAT Transactions Report (AVTR), not the payments report.
- Period: at most 93 consecutive days per report; for longer spans, run several reports one after another.
- When: from the 3rd of the next month, so September data is there from October 3.
- What is in it: according to Amazon, detailed data on all taxable transactions, among them sales, refunds, returns, inbound shipments, transfers between fulfilment centres, liquidations, donations and Amazon service fees; goods transactions belong to the report month, fees to the previous month.
Which Amazon report shows the VAT?
The AVTR. Amazon describes it as a monthly report with data on all taxable transactions on the European marketplaces and in its fulfilment network; according to Amazon the data supports your European VAT reporting. Two other reports are easily mistaken for it:
| Report | What Amazon says | Assigns the month by |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon VAT Transactions Report (AVTR) | Sales, refunds, returns, inbound shipments, transfers between fulfilment centres and fees; if its tax columns are empty, Amazon advises activating the VAT Calculation Service | Shipping date (for sales) |
| Reports of the VAT Calculation Service (VCS) | After activation you have access to detailed reports meant to help with VAT returns | not stated on the saved Amazon page |
| “All Orders” report (Alle Bestellungen) | On the Amazon pages we saved it is described only by its date, not as a tax report | Order date |
Which other reports exist and which one you need for what is in Amazon reports for your taxes: which one you need. If a report shows no VAT, first check that it is the AVTR and that the VAT Calculation Service was active when the transaction ran.
What this means for you: use the AVTR for your VAT figures and no other report.
Where do I click in Seller Central?
This is the path Amazon gives on its German help page for the AVTR (menu names as they appear in the German interface):
- Sign in to Seller Central.
- Go to Berichte (Reports), then Versand durch Amazon (Fulfilment by Amazon).
- Scroll to the section Steuern (Tax) in the left menu.
- Click Amazon Umsatzsteuer-Transaktionsbericht (the Amazon VAT Transactions Report).
- Choose your date range (at most 93 consecutive days).
- Click Request .csv Download. Amazon also offers Request .txt Download.
- Wait until the report is generated, then download it.
Amazon changes menu names from time to time. If you cannot find an item, the help page inside your own Seller Central account applies. Pick the CSV: VAT GPT reads CSV files.
What this means for you: follow the Seller Central path to the AVTR and pick the CSV.
Which period can I request?
Amazon lets you create reports for any period from August 2016, with a maximum of 93 consecutive days per report. A quarter has at most 92 days, so one report can cover a whole quarter. If you need more than 93 days, create several reports for consecutive periods and make sure they do not overlap.
When data is available depends on the report month. Amazon gives these examples:
| Transactions from | Report available from |
|---|---|
| December 2025 | January 3, 2026 |
| January 2026 | February 3, 2026 |
| February 2026 | March 3, 2026 |
According to Amazon, some accounts are testing a beta that lets you pull data within the current month, up to three days before today. Seller Central shows whether your account is part of it.
What this means for you: request at most 93 consecutive days from the 3rd of the following month; one report covers a quarter.
Which marketplaces does it cover?
Amazon lists ten marketplace sites whose sellers can download the report:
- amazon.co.uk
- amazon.de
- amazon.fr
- amazon.it
- amazon.es
- amazon.nl
- amazon.pl
- amazon.se
- amazon.com.be
- amazon.ie
If you also run a web shop, see downloading the Shopify tax report.
If you sell on several of these, open the report in the Seller Central login you manage them from and check in the file that the countries you shipped to appear. If you run several separate logins, download the report for each one. VAT GPT accepts several CSV files in one upload. A file you have already uploaded is rejected as a duplicate.
What this means for you: download the report for every Seller Central login and check that your shipping countries appear.
What can go wrong?
Wrong period. Amazon lists, among the reasons for a failed download, an end date in the current month or a range longer than 93 days. Choose an end date in the previous month or earlier and no more than 93 days.
The report is not there yet. Before the 3rd of the following month the month is not available. Waiting until the 3rd still leaves time before the deadlines: the OSS return for the third quarter is due by October 31 (section 18j (4) UStG), and September data has been there since October 3.
A different report. Amazon has many reports with similar names. The payments report shows money movements and is built on another date, the posting date of the event. For VAT you use the AVTR. The All Orders report sorts by order date and can therefore differ from your AVTR: an order placed on January 31 and shipped on February 1 appears in the All Orders report for January but in the AVTR for February.
Empty tax columns. If the VAT columns are empty, Amazon recommends activating the VAT Calculation Service. It does not fill the fields for past data. More: Amazon VAT Calculation Service (VCS) explained.
No data. If Amazon says "Keine Daten verfügbar" (no data available), there were no transactions the AVTR covers in the chosen period.
What this means for you: pick the AVTR, end the period in the previous month and activate the VAT Calculation Service early.
What do I do with the file?
The AVTR numbers are the basis for your returns: rows with UNION-OSS go into the OSS return, your sales taxable in Germany into the VAT return. The column TAX_REPORTING_SCHEME shows which row belongs where. The steps are here:
- Amazon OSS for sellers: what applies to EU sales
- VAT return from the Amazon VAT Transactions Report (AVTR)
- Reading the Amazon VAT report CSV
- Amazon VAT report (AVTR): every column explained
Other marketplaces have their own reports, for example downloading the Kaufland booking report.
What this means for you: rows with UNION-OSS go into the OSS return and your German sales into the VAT return.
How VAT GPT helps
VAT GPT is the tax software for online sellers, freelancers and small businesses in Germany. It calculates and files in one place, in this order:
- your OSS return
- VAT
- EÜR
- trade tax
- income tax
For the file you have just downloaded, that means:
- Upload: You upload the CSV to VAT GPT, together with your eBay report if you like (how to download the eBay transaction report). The steps are in Upload Amazon and eBay reports to VAT GPT.
- Check: VAT GPT recognises from the header that it is an Amazon report, sorts every sales row by TAX_REPORTING_SCHEME and country, and shows you the totals for Germany and the EU countries (OSS). You check and confirm.
- Send: Sending is a VAT GPT Pro function: the VAT returns and the other returns go through ELSTER to the tax office, the OSS return directly to the BZSt.
Also in VAT GPT:
- AI invoice processing, several at once: Your receipts belong with the report. You upload invoices, several files in one go and Amazon invoices too. The AI reads amounts, countries and tax rates; for Amazon invoices it uses the individual line items to put the cost in a category, for example advertising. You check and confirm. More: AI invoice processing: scan receipts and read invoices.
- E-invoices: VAT GPT creates e-invoices in the ZUGFeRD and XRechnung formats and reads incoming invoices in those two formats. More: Receive and read e-invoices.
- All taxes in one place: In the same account you create the OSS return for all EU countries, the advance VAT return (monthly or quarterly) and the annual VAT return, the EÜR, and the trade tax and income tax returns. For a sole proprietorship you also fill in the questionnaire for tax registration there, to get a tax number. What belongs to it: All taxes for Amazon and eBay sellers in one place.
